Google acquires Labpixies
Not everyone likes to start their day with just a search box and logo (no matter how cool it is!). Many users want email, videos, news, weather, games, and other information to be at their fingertips each time they open up a browser window. We launched iGoogle in 2005 to address this need by providing a truly personalized homepage with access to any RSS feed and well over a hundred thousand gadgets.
One of the first developers to create gadgets for iGoogle was Labpixies. Over the years, we worked closely together on a variety of projects, including the launch of a number of global OpenSocial based gadgets. Recently, we decided that we could do more if we were part of the same team, and as such, we're thrilled to announce the acquisition of Labpixies.
The team will be based in our ever-growing Tel Aviv office and will anchor our iGoogle efforts across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We are looking forward to working with Labpixies to develop great web apps and leverage their knowledge and expertise to help developers and improve the ecosystem overall.
In the meantime, have fun trying to beat me at Flood-It!

ReplyDeleteI play Flood-it on both Android and the iPod Touch. I didn't realize that it was originally a google gadget! They make fun games. I just hope this means they continue to make fun games--never thought of google as a games company!
ReplyDeleteAren't you just competing with your ecosystem of gadgets?
ReplyDeleteCongrats!

Is this why my ToDo Lists have total fatal errors now?
ReplyDeleteCan you puh-lease get it compatible with Opera browser! Right now the only way you can print "My ToDo List" is to switch to Firefox. It's maddening.

ReplyDeletei've been using this gadget for quite sometime.. and i already updated a lot of my expenses. however I don't know i accidentally click on labpixies logo. then all my record are gone!!!!!!!!!!!! :((((( how to get back all my record? anybody know how to do it?
I haven't been using the expenses gadget for very long at all, but just a couple days ago, it deleted all my info from July, but let me put new info in from August. Today, I came back to add more, and all the information I previously entered in August was also completely gone! I love this gadget, so hopefully this can be remedied. I feel for you, naniesc. Help!
ReplyDeleteNice one..
ReplyDeleteAwesome
I have read many reports, as I always do before downloading anything, and it seems that 99% are negative for all the gadgets.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the negative comments far outnumber the positive experiences with this gadget. I think I will not try it.
ReplyDeleteLABPIXES IS MY FAV
ReplyDeleteLABPIXES is good
ReplyDeleteWould be nice to be able to access the information in the Birthday Reminder gadget in an easily transportable way. My wife recently acquired a laptop and although I installed this gadget, it remains unpopulated because it's just a pain to have to re-enter all the info again.
ReplyDeleteWould be great to be able to share "to do list" between computer and android phone, like the calendar app.
ReplyDeleteThis "labpixies" its a fun game but i can"t seem to win..nd its stressing me..plz help me out.!!!
ReplyDeletecan you fix it so it can can switch between lists without expanding to the entire screen???
ReplyDeletebardzo dobry
ReplyDeleteHey, Could someone who really knows, please post information about Flood-it!, like the pixie names, and at what point or requirement do we obtain these names? What is the last name or reward earning accomplishment possible? Is SuperPixie the last one?
ReplyDeleteA very nice calendar. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteNagyon nagyszerű!!!
ReplyDeleteI am using the Birthday Reminder...great tool. Is there a way to print this out? I entered all my data and now I don't know how to get a hard copy. thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, can the Birthday Reminder with entered data be copied to a different account? thanks, Con
ReplyDeleteWhy did you get rid of the Birthday Reminder. I was going to get it for my niece and couldn't find it.
ReplyDeletenão consigo encontrar rádio para ouvir música.
ReplyDeleteI have problem with the game Flood It: every other day everything resets! Earlier this day I had 1440 points and Expert pixie title, now I have nothing!!!
ReplyDeletevery nice
ReplyDeleteMy Birthday Reminder won't open either! Is this due to an incompatibility with all the new igoogle changes? Do you plan on updating Birthday Reminder to work in the near future or should I look for another birthday reminder calendar service?
ReplyDeleteWTF? My Birthday Reminder has disappeared. My name is tattooed on my arm for a reason and I depended on this tool. Really P.O.'d that you guys are screwing with stuff I've had for a while and have become dependant on
DeleteGoogle has messed up everything LabPixies created.
ReplyDeleteShould have left it alone. Go to any LabPixie site and the comments are all the same..."it doesn't work anymore".
Google has some kind of random update or query going that resets the entire page and all the gadgets. I may switch back to yahoo. You would think that after a year since they stepped on LabPixies they would have it working again.
playing trio using windows. in the middle of a game, it resets/refreshes back to the beginning (zero) I have used chrome, firefox and explorer. I reset/refresh each time before starting a game and still it can happen midgame, especially with chrome and firefox. anybody else with this problem who has found a solution?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a computer geek and I was dragged into the computer age kicking and screaming. Now that I've become comfortable with certain aspects, they are being gratuitouslly deleted. Does anyone out there really care what the consumer wants. I have tried to ignore the negative info being presented but, if my needs are being discarded on a whim by this organization, I have no choice but to look for an alternative site. Do my needs mean nothing to iGoogle?
ReplyDeleteThe Trivia game from lab pixie asks rude questions. Beware if your kids access it!
